Bring Your Plea At Dawn

In the Light of His Holiness

God is pure, holy in nature,
In His presence, no wickedness can endure.
Evil flees, deceit cannot stand,
Before the might of His righteous hand.

The boastful fall, the proud brought low,
For in His truth, dishonesty cannot grow.
He warns us gently, yet firm and clear,
To live with integrity, to hold Him dear.

In daily trials, in every strife,
Seek His guidance, the compass of life.
With respect and humility, approach His throne,
Acknowledge His greatness, make His ways your own.

Strive for righteousness, in thought and deed,
In His holy light, let your spirit be freed.
For in His love, we find our way,
To live in His truth, each and every day.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.

PRAYER FOR DIVINE HELP
Psalm 5:1-13

Responsorial Psalm | Psalm 5:4-6, 6-7, 8

R: Lead me in your justice, Lord.

4 At dawn I bring my plea expectantly before you. 5 For you, O God, delight not in wickedness; no evil man remains with you; 6 the arrogant may not stand in your sight. (R) You hate all evildoers; 7 you destroy all who speak falsehood; the bloodthirsty and the deceitful the Lord abhors. (R) 8 But I, because of your abundant mercy, will enter your house; I will worship at your holy temple in fear of you, O Lord.

Background:

Psalm 5 is a prayer of David, composed during a time of distress, likely when he was fleeing from his son Absalom. This psalm is one of the “imprecatory psalms,” where David calls upon God to judge the wicked and protect the righteous.

Psalm 5:4-6. In these verses, David emphasizes God’s holiness and His intolerance of wickedness. He declares that God does not delight in evil and that the boastful and deceitful will not stand before Him. This reflects the idea that God’s nature is fundamentally opposed to sin and that He will ultimately judge those who practice it.

Psalm 5:7-8. David contrasts himself with the wicked by expressing his desire to worship God and seek His guidance. He acknowledges God’s steadfast love and asks for direction to walk in righteousness, especially in the face of his enemies. This shows David’s reliance on God’s guidance and his commitment to living a life that pleases God.

These passages highlight the themes of God’s holiness, the judgment of the wicked, and the importance of seeking God’s guidance. They remind us of the need to live righteously and depend on God’s direction in our lives.

Psalm 5:7-8

Reverence and Worship: David expresses his desire to enter God’s house and worship in reverence. This teaches us the importance of approaching God with respect and humility, acknowledging His greatness.

Seeking Guidance: David asks God to lead him in righteousness because of his enemies. This underscores the importance of seeking God’s guidance in our daily lives, especially when facing challenges.
